A bravura fall campaign came to an upbeat close Dec. 10 at New Milford High School.

Green Wave athletes in eight sports were honored for their participation and accomplishments by an appreciative crowd of parents and friends.

Highlighting the evening was the presentation of the South-West Conference championship banner by the Green Wave field hockey team and the state open banner by the NMHS boys' cross country squad.

Those teams and their fellow Green Wave student-athletes were accorded the spotlight as athletic director Lance Pliego hosted the annual fall sports awards ceremony in the NMHS theater.

Among the awards was the Michael Rosato Memorial Trophy in football, given to Ryan Griffin as the senior who has contributed the most to the program over a four-year period.

Sofia Amaral was honored with the Russell Devin Award for girls' cross country, given in memory of the longtime NMHS educator and coach.
