Defense proved the difference recently as the Sports Page Cafe staked its claim to superiority in New Milford Parks & Recreation coed softball.

The stooltoppers outplayed B & B Mason Supply, 9-3, Nov. 27 at Pettibone School's C' field to earn the championship trophy.

Sports Page boasted a 12-0 overall record this fall in the 13-team loop, capped by playoff wins over A.M.I. and B & B.

Cafe pitcher Ron Newkirk complemented his mound prowess by slamming a tie-breaking, solo home run in the fifth inning to give the champs the lead for good.

The mason supply squad closed the books on an overall 10-2 campaign.
