'Twas a sight to behold, and then some.

For about nine hours last Saturday, New Milford High School's large gymnasium was the stage for dozens of talented drum line and color guard teams from throughout the region.

The colorful event was the NMHS Winter Guard's annual festival.

Among the highlights for hundreds of parents, family members and friends in attendance were performances in the afternoon by the Green Wave drum line and in early evening by the school's color guard unit (see photos).

For the drum line, it marked the first competition of the season and therefore was purely for evaluation purposes.

For the NMHS color guard, however, the competition was very real and had a happy ending for the first-place host team.
