To the Editor:
On behalf of the Washington holiday basket project, we would like to thank everyone who gave so generously to the 2009 food drive.
So many individuals, schools, businesses, banks and organization contributed to support the drive that it would be difficult to mention them all. The response was truly overwhelming.
Sometimes it's hard to imagine that one person can make a difference when the economy has taken a toll on so many.
This year, our efforts were supported by a number of people like John Pascal, a young man who saw the sign at the transfer station announcing our food drive.
John decided to take action. He gathered his money and asked his mother to take him shopping.
John's determination helped brightened the holiday season for many families in our community.
We were humbled by this simple act and proud to know that we live in a town as caring and giving as Washington.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation and warmest wishes for a Happy New-Year to all who made the holiday basket project a huge success.
