WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina man has died after he was stabbed.
The Winston-Salem Journal reports that Winston-Salem police responded to an apartment complex just before midnight Saturday and found 34-year-old Shelton McFarland Outten with a stab wound to the chest. He was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
The police department said in a news release that a preliminary investigation determined Outten was with a known acquaintance, and the stabbing was not a random act of violence. No further details were available.
Outten's death is the 18th homicide in Winston-Salem this year.
