The Jewish Community Center in Sherman will present a program with Elizabeth Zelvin, author of the historical novel “Voyage of Strangers,” Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Zelvin will discuss “The Jews, the Taino, and What Really Happened When Christopher Columbus Discovered America.”

The author will address the myths surrounding Columbus’ discovery and how she came to create her Jewish protagonist Diego Mendoza and his sister Rachel.

She will also talk about how her research for this historical fiction led her to doubt many of the stories surrounding Columbus and his voyages.
