Championships were in abundance this winter for the skilled youth wrestlers from the New Milford Wrestling Associaiton.

Highlighting the season for the young grapplers were state champships earned by C.J. Schultz, Joe Accousti, Matt Hernandez, Evan Lindner, Khalil Bourjeili and Brendan Mulvihill.

Danny Reyes, Ryan Christopher and Jake Coniglio claimed state runner-up performances.

"This has been a very successful year for NMYWA," said coach Ken Lindner. "The kids worked hard all year and it showed on the mat. The coaches are very proud."

The sixth to eighth-grade middle school team captured the Western Connecticut League title as Gabe Reyes, Alex Richardson, Ryan Christopher, Joe Accousti, Tyler Bohenko and Danny Reyes won individual titles.

Seamus Reilly, Jacob Colley, Zach Bohenko and Cole McGrath were second in their respective weight classes.

The New Milford youths also won the Meriden team dual title and the McGee tournament championship, outwrestling 24 other teams for the latter title. The kindergarten to fifth-grade elementary school team also reigns as Western Connecticut League champions, bolstered by the individual titles of Justin Shay, Brogan Reilly, Evan Lindner, Peter Coniglio and Evan Shook.

Runners-up were Sam Granata, Brendan Mulvihill, Khalil Bourjeili, Kyle Lee, Matt Hernandez, Thomas Verdiglione and Ted Eichen.
