YardApes, Inc. in New Milford recently participated in this year's Professional Landcare Network's (PLANET) national "Day of Service."

Members of PLANET organize volunteer lawn and landscape projects in communities across the country, and YardApes worked on projects in New Milford.

The company brought 20 volunteers and 15 Brookfield BNI Business Bobcats volunteers together to enhance the green-spaces at the Education Center, the New Milford Historical Society, the Pratt Nature Center, Sarah Noble Intermediate School and TheatreWorks.

In addition, a homeowner was chosen to receive a green-space revitalization.

Teams of YardApes professionals were at all six project sites. Brookfield BNI Business Bobcats volunteered at the Education Center and Sarah Noble.

The work included landscape renovation for the center entrance and the spreading of 23 yards of playground mulch at the Education Center; a spring cleanup and the mulching of a boxwood garden at the historical society; pruning, cleanup and the mulching of entrance gardens, and pruning, cleanup and mulching of the garden installation from YardApes' 2011 Day of Service initiative at The Pratt Nature Center; the installation of a Belgium block labyrinth and lawn that will be the center of an outdoor classroom at SNIS; and landscape design and installation for the entrance of TheatreWorks.
