William John Peet, 59, of New Milford, died Aug. 31 at New Milford Hospital.

Mr. Peet was born July 5, 1953, in New Milford, a son of the late Hiram Duel and Florence Isabel (Keifer) Peet. He was a 1971 graduate of New Milford High School.

Mr. Peet was employed by JP Stevens, Winchester Electronic and Scoville Manufacturing. He also did lawn maintenance and bar tending.

Mr. Peet was an avid sports fan, cheering on the New York Giants and Yankees. He played ball locally for years.

He lived in New Milford until moving to the Kent Specialty Care Center after suffering a stroke and Parkinson's disease.

Mr. Peet is survived by a daughter, Whitney Nicole Peet, and four sisters, Janet Peet, of Jensen Beach, Fla., Priscilla Van Norman, of Brooksville, Fla., Dorothy Lounsbury, of Weeki Wachee, Fla., and Barbara Essock, of Milton, Wis. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert, and two sisters, Jean Chatfield and Nancy Merritt, both of New Milford.

Services will be private.

The Colonial Funeral Home in New Milford is in charge of arrangements.
