Waleria (Wasowski) Mahanna, 99, of Danbury, died June 1, 2010, at Masonicare (Ashlar) in Newtown. She was widow of John Charles "Charlie" Mahanna,

Mrs. Mahanna was born Oct. 30, 1910, in Newark, N.J., daughter of Andrew and Pauline (Rempalski) Wasowski.

She attended Newark schools.

A resident of Danbury since 1938, Mrs. Mahanna enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, tatting, reading, walking, and playing cards, bingo and crossword puzzle.

Mrs. Mahanna would often work alongside her husband, who was known as "The Popcorn King," at his popcorn truck at local events.

Mrs. Mahanna is survived by a daughter, Janet (Yarrish) Miller, and her husband, John, of North Fort Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Julia Wasowski, of New Jersey, and Mary Kruz, of Illinois; six grandchildren, Leona (Yarrish) Tomascak, and her husband, Matt, of Brookfield, Gail (Yarrish) Lawrence, and her husband, Gilbert, of New Milford, Gary Yarrish, and his wife, Patricia, of Litchfield, Christine Mahana, of Danbury, and Brent Mahana, and his wife, Kenata, of Louisana; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew Tomascak, Kari (Tomascak) Amorando, and her husband, Allen, Stephanie Vossen, Christian Vossen, Courtney, and Dustin Yarrish, and Charles Mahana, of Louisiana; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Robert Mahana, and a grandson, Scott Mahana.

The Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home of Danbury was in charge of arrangements.
