Burnham Library in Bridgewater will open an exhibit of works of the surrealist painter and filmmaker Walter H. Von Egidy with a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. June 8.

The show will run through Aug. 1.

His works celebrate the enigmatic and ineffable, as noted in the title of this show, "Mariphosa Flowers and Moon Slivers."

Von Egidy, owner of New Milford Sign Shop and Von's Studio, is a celebrated local artist whose works have been displayed by the Housatonic Art League, and at the White Silo and Gallery 13.

His enamel/oil paintings are in many private and public collections.

In addition to his many original paintings, Von Egidy has won first place in several film festivals, including the United States Super 8 Film Festival at Rutgers University.

The exhibit may be seen Tuesdays from 1 to 5 p.m., Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
