The landscape in the New Milford village center was given a significant, albeit temporary, enhancement Saturday.

A Field of Honor -- a large display of American flags -- is now on exhibit through Dec. 8 on the lawn of the New Milford Historical Society & Museum, just north of the Village Green.

Organized by the Kiwanis Club Foundation of Greater Danbury, the flags serve as a reminder and a tribute to veterans who have served and are now serving.

Residents are invited to sponsor a flag for $30, four flags for $100 or $500 for more.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the various nonprofit organizations in New Milford taking part in selling the flags, including the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts and the New Milford Historical Society.

For more information, email Linda Thomas at field.of.honor.linda@gmail.com.

For more information about the exhibit, call the museum at 860-354-3069.
