“Jesse (Steinmetz) did all of the leg work on this,” said First Selectman Mark Lyon. “Given Ms. Verstandig’s background and long standing in the Washington arts community, I think she is an excellent choice.”
Verstandig will serve as Washington’s poet laureate until June 2016.
Steinmetz served as the town’s first poet laureate.
He was set Thursday, Sept. 3 to present Verstandig to the community at Gunn Memorial Library.
At the time, Verstandig was scheduled to give a reading of her work.
