Vera Elbaum, 87, had been a private nurse

Vera Elbaum, 87, of Bridgewater, died Oct. 30, 2010, at New Milford Hospital after being taken ill that morning.
Mrs. Elbaum was born March 3, 1923, in Hillsboro, Tenn.
After graduating high school in Tennessee, she went on to nursing school and worked for many years as a private duty nurse before settling in the Danbury area in the early 1960s.
She worked at Davis and Geck.
For the past 35 years, Mrs. Elbaum had been a resident of Bridgewater, where she enjoyed her gardens and wildlife.
Mrs. Elbaum is survived by a brother, E.C. Ferguson, of Madison, Tenn.; a niece, Dreanna; a sister, Dr. Judy Worthington, and brother-in-law, Roy Worthington, of Manchester, Tenn.; a daughter, Barrie Kavasch, of Kent; two sons, Charles Elbaum, of Bridgewater, and Nick Elbaum, of Greenville, R.I.; nine grandchildren, Chris and Kim Kavasch, Glenn and Robert Elbaum, Albert and Susan Taylor, and Beth, Nicky and Danny Elbaum. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold; a daughter, Kathleen; a brother, Charles Austin Ferguson; and a special friend, Mr. Gould.
The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bridgewater Scholarship Fund, Main Street, Bridgewater, CT 06752, an organization of which Mrs. Elbaum was a longtime supporter.
