The Animal Welfare Society in New Milford will feature a select group of Valentine sweetheart cats and dogs at a significantly reduced adoption rate for the month of February.

Some of these pets have been at the shelter for an extended period of time and some may have special needs.

All are in need of an adoptive home.

Valentine sweetheart pets will be noted with a red heart on their cage.

A drawing for two Valentine's gift baskets, one for cats and one for dogs, will also be held.

In addition to regular adoption hours Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p. m. and Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the shelter will be open on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, from noon to 2 p.m.
