Gallery 25 and Creative Arts Studio in New Milford will present an art talk, “It’s So Dutch,” with Tina Underwood Saturday at 3 p.m., followed by a reception from 4 to 7 p.m.

Underwood is the featured artist at the gallery through Aug. 1.

Underwood was born to immigrant parents and established a family garden center and landscaping business in Roxbury.

She grew up with flowers and learned to cultivate her own gardens.

Surrounded with the natural beauty of the gardens and the landscape of western Connecticut, the artist is inspired by endless subject matter.

“The Dutch look of my paintings came about when I switched from watercolors to oil paints about eight years ago,” Underwood said.

“In this medium I can showcase the strong light effects that I love so much, light that spills over the objects and flowers I set up in my north light studio.”

The gallery at 25 Church St. is open Fridays through Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. and by appointment.
