Two people were in serious condition Tuesday after their vehicles collided head-on in front of Starbucks on Danbury Road (Route 7 South) in New Milford, police said.

The crash happened around 7 a.m. near the coffee shop, according to police spokesman Lt. Larry Ash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Lt. Ash said the two victims, whose identities were not released, had to be extricated and were taken to Danbury Hospital. Both were listed in serious condition, Lt. Ash said. No other injuries were reported.

It unclear whether wet road conditions were a factor in the accident.

The roadway was closed for nearly four hours as crash investigators processed the scene, but had reopned by late morning

No further details were available.
