TheatreWorks New Milford will premiere the Tony Award-winning play “Peter and the Starcatcher” Friday, Feb. 17 at 8 p.m.

Following opening night, the play will be staged Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. through March 11, as well as March 5 at 2 p.m.

The play is by Rick Elice, with music by Wayne Barker.

The musical is billed as a “grownup’s prequel to Peter Pan” and is the innovative and imaginative story based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson.

The cast features Cullen Burling of Monroe as Peter, Jack Harding of New Milford as Prentiss, Karl Hinger of New Milford as Ted, Abbey Lynch of Sandy Hook as Molly Aster, Dean Alexander of New Fairfield as Lord Leonard Aster, Matt Austin of New Milford as Black Stache, Steve Stott of Brookfield as Smee; Joe Harding of New Milford as Alf, Bruce Tredwell of Brewster, N.Y., as Mrs. Bumbrake/teacher, Alexis Vournazos of Danbury as Grempkin/Fighting Prawn, Chris Marker of New Milford of Captain Robert Falcon Scott, and Michael Wright of Sandy Hook as Slank/Hawking Clam.

The play is under the direction of Alicia Dempster of Danbury and musical direction of Susan Lang of Woodbury.

Tickets are $28 for reserved seating. Students and military personnel will be admitted for $23. A pay-what-you-can-night will be held Feb. 23.

The theater is located at 5 Brookside Ave., but parking is behind the Catherine E. Lillis Administration Building on East Street.
