Santa Claus was in town Saturday, Nov. 26, so there must have been some pretty important doings going on.

As it turned out, Jolly St. Nicholas was visiting New Milford to say hello to folks patronizing the New Milford Village Center Organization's annual Festival of Lights on the Village Green.

For the 45th year, in a tradition started by the late Walter Schutte, Christmas trees line the Green, courtesy of the men's club of the New Milford United Methodist Church.

The highlight of the evening was the lighting of the Christmas trees.

Residents also had the chance to participate in Small Business Saturday by shopping, dining and partaking in other events in downtown New Milford that day and evening.

The event was supported by Union Savings Bank.
