Terence Andrew "Terry" Powell, 80, of Randleman, N.C., died July 13 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro, N.C.

Mr. Powell was a native of Queens, N.Y., but lived in East Northport, N.Y. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was a graduate of Queens College and of Hofstra University.

Mr. Powell was a professional writer and editor, and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Asheboro.

Mr. Powell was a family man, loved a good joke and was a great conversationalist.

Mr. Powell is survived by his wife, Maryelise (Paquette) Powell; two daughters, Michele A. Powell, of Gaylordsville, and Jeannine N. Powell, of Burlingame, Calif.; a son, Jonathan Powell, and his wife, Heather, of Pottstown, Pa.; three grandchildren, Pvt. Alexander Powell, Devon Powell, and Morgan Schmoyer; and a sister, and her husband, Mary F., and John Rieger, of Kings Park, N.Y.

The Pugh Funeral Home of Randleman was in charge of arrangements.
