Gunn Memorial Library in Washington will present a program with Wendy Summer April 12 at 6:30 p.m.

Ms. Summer, entrepreneur, businesswoman and advocate for social justice, will discuss her experiences working with the people of Afghanistan..

Ms. Summer was introduced to Afghan businesswomen in 2005 as a volunteer for Bpeace, an international organization of women who assist entrepreneurs that provide jobs and sustain families in countries in conflict or post-conflict.

From that experience, she has combined her love of exotic handcrafted textiles and her consumer marketing experience to create ZAANHA, which works on the ground with Afghan and Asian craftspeople to create fashion and home decor collections and reinvests a portion of all sales to send struggling Afghan children to school.

Registration for the program at the Wykeham Road library is recommended by calling 860-868-7586.
