Store to celebrate Banned Books Week

Hickory Stick Bookshop in Washington will celebrate Banned Books Week Sept. 25 through Oct. 1.
Offerings will include a display of banned and/or challenged book, mugshots with patrons reading their favorite banned book and a “Caught Reading Banned Books” sign, themed crossword puzzles, word searches and coloring sheets, and a “Oh, Say Can You Read?” banned book contest.
A banned books week party, featuring food, discussion and more, will be held Sept. 30 at 4 p.m.
The winning title for “Washington’s Favorite Banned Book” will be announced and prizes such as totes, T-shirts, books and more will be awarded at the party to those who completed the themed activities throughout the week at the 2 Green Hill Road store.
