Sonia (Miller) Strouse, 82, of New Milford, formerly of Bloomfield, died June 27, 2010.
Mrs. Strouse was born in Norwich, the eldest daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha (Kenig) Miller.
She taught at the Burnside Elementary School in East Hartford during the early 1950s and was substitute teacher in the Bloomfield School system during the 1960s.
In 1973, Mrs. Strouse and her late husband, Charles, opened and operated Wintonbury Hardware in Bloomfield until retiring in 1998.
Mrs. Strouse was a volunteer teaching English to immigrants during the 1980s and 1990s.
Mrs. Strouse is survived by two sisters, Doris Wechter, and her husband, Bob, and Eleanor Chaikind, and her husband, Leonard; a son, Joseph, and his wife, Ilene Gray; a daughter, Sandra Singco, and her husband, Gilbert; a grandson, Neil Singco; two granddaughters, Kelly Singco and Anna Beroll, and her husband, David.
