The Bridgewater Senior Center is in the process of employing sunshine for its energy.

The construction and installation of 24 solar panels was recently completed on the senior center's Hut Hill Road property. The U.S.-made Evergreen panels are mounted on a pressure-treated frame by the parking lot.

The energy generated passes through an inverter and turns back the electric meter.

The system is sized to produce most of the center's power requirements.

The selectmen's office applied for federal energy stimulus monies and was approved for a $31,000 grant to fund the project.
