Signe Sullivan, 89, grew up in Roxbury

Signe "Beth" Sullivan, 89, of New Milford died Jan. 21, 2012, at The Kent Care Facility in Kent. She was the wife of George "Jake" Sullivan Jr.

Mrs. Sullivan was born July 1, 1923, in New Milford, a daughter of the late Harry and Signe (Zetterquist) Larson. She grew up in Roxbury, CT and was a graduate of Post Junior College.

Before marrying, Mrs. Sullivan was employed by Colonial Bank and Trust Company in Waterbury.

Mrs. Sullivan married her husband on Sept. 28, 1946, and moved to New Milford.

She had been a member of Palm Rebekah Lodge #43 in New Milford since 1956.

Mrs. Sullivan loved quilting, read and genealogy. She also enjoyed traveling.

In addition to her husband of 66 years, Mrs. Sullivan is survived by a son, Gary Sullivan, of Enfield; three daughters, Sharon Racis, of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Rebecca Carroll, of Darien, Cynthia "Cindy" Cass, of New Milford; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held today (Friday) at Colonial Funeral Home, 87 Park Lane Road (Route 202), New Milford. For more information, call the funeral home at 860-354-4237. Burial will be at Center Cemetery in New Milford.
