The Sherman Park & Recreation Department offers programs throughout the year. Summer office hours at Sherman School are Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon.
Phone messages at 860-354-3629 will be returned.
Beach passes are distributed outside the Sherman School cafeteria weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Free summer concerts are underway at the town beach. Don Lowe and the High Plains Drifters will perform Aug. 16 from 3 - 6 and Cripple Creek will return Aug. 23 for a show from 2 to 5 p.m. Residents are welcome to bring picnic lunch and some friends.
Registration for the 2016 boating season will be held Saturdays in September. The lottery for the moorings will be held Oct. 3, if necessary.
Rich Sheridan, longtime New Milford High School coach, assisted by current Green Wave players, will direct boys and girls aged 8-15 Aug. 10-14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Veterans Field. Cost will be $100.
The after-school program for children in grades K-8 will commence on the first day of school, Aug. 26, under the direction of Danielle Christie and Christine Celio. Signup is available by calling Park & Recreation or stopping by the program. Sessions will meet each day after school from 3 to 6 p.m.
