See the Sunday News-Times

Almost 70 years after World War II, the Greater New Milford and Danbury areas and the rest of Connecticut are losing 40 World War II veterans every day, according to state officials.
With this priceless oral history fast disappearing, The News-Times decided to do something about it.
So we invited four local veterans to tell their stories Sunday, Aug. 8.
Why report these stories now? America shouldn't need a holiday to recognize its World War II veterans, especially those who are our friends, family members and neighbors in this area.
After all, most people don't think about their mothers exclusively on Mother's Day. Why should it be any different for veterans from America's "Greatest Generation," as broadcaster Tom Brokaw labeled those who experienced the Great Depression and World War II.
Read about these local heroes in our midst. Only in the print edition of The News-Times on Sunday, Aug. 8.
