A pair of local businessmen -- Mark Mansa of Bethel and Glenn Wagner of Brookfield -- and two other men are the focus of an alleged steroids and marijuana ring in the Greater Danbury area.

Federal authorities, who took five years to build their case, claim local high school students were among the customers buying steroids and that members of at least three local police departments may have protected the ring.

Why did it take so long to bring the probe to a conclusion and secure indictments? Have any local schools been targeted for sales of steroids and drugs, and how many students might be involved? What do the feds have to say about alleged police department involvement? What's expected to happen in this case in the coming weeks?
