Second arrest made in heroin death

A second arrest has been made related to the recent heroin overdose death of Christopher DeFino of New Milford.
Jared R. Beatty, 26, of Peru, Vt., turned himself in to New Milford police upon learning of a warrant charging him with aiding in the sale of a narcotic substance and conspiracy to commit sale of a narcotic substance.
Beatty was arraigned July 14 in Superior Court in Bantam and released on a $200,000 court set bond.
His next court date is July 28 to enter a plea.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Beatty had accompanied Ryan Jordan, 27, June 21 when Jordan is accused of selling four bags of heroin to DeFino.
Police said DeFino later died from a heroin overdose.
Ryan Jordan of New Milford is being held on $350,000 bond on charges of sale of a narcotic substance and conspiracy to commit sale of a narcotic substance in the incident.
He was arrested July 10.
