To the Editor:

Chris Murphy. Who is he? Just a career politician?

Or is he someone who actually cares about people and our nation's future?

Well, we know that he is middle aged and has a wife and two children. We also know he is an attorney and had the choice of providing a good income with good financial stability for his family.

But he chose the harder path -- he chose to try to make a difference in not just his family's life, but in our lives, too.

Instead of choosing that guaranteed income, he depends on being elected to continue his mission. I am sure as he says goodnight to his family via Skype, he reminds himself that he is away from them so he can protect their future.

His "Buy American Act" is to keep jobs here in the United States of America. He has voted against bills that sound good to you and I, but ultimately something was added that was not good for us.

He understands we seniors earned our Social Security and Medicare coverage. It is not an "entitlement" and, if anything, it should be improved on, not eliminated.

He wants to protect us women from sexual health discrimination and from having the government dictate to us what we can or cannot do with our bodies.

He has listened; he has acted. He has been our very good advocate in Washington as the 5th District congressman.

So, is he a career politician or someone who has no hidden agenda -- just wants to make our lives better? I know him and I know he is selflessly committed to help you and me.
