ROSES to the organizing committee of the 44th annual Village Fair Days in New Milford last Friday and Saturday. The event covers the sprawling Village Green and has long been a tradition for families and friends, offering a variety of entertainment, food, crafts and more. The Village Fair Days, sponsored by the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce, lived up to its billing as one of the premier events for the town.
THORNS to reckless people who drink alcoholic beverages to excess and then get behind the wheel of a boat and drive. Drinking while boating is as dangerous as drinking while driving a motor vehicle and should be more than discouraged -- it should be eradicated on Candlewood Lake, Lake Waramaug and Lake Lillinonah, as well as smaller bodies of water in the Greater New Milford area.
ROSES to race chairman Michelle Gasiewski, New Milford Parks & Recreation's Dan Calhoun and Eleanor Covelli and staff, and to the many volunteers who helped produce another fine tandem running of Saturday's 44th annual New Milford 8-mile road race and seventh annual Village Fair Days 5K. Nearly 600 athletes of all ages, shapes and sizes participated and many more were on hand in the village center to greet them when they finished the races.
