Richard "Dick" Wey, 72, of Sherman, died Feb. 14, 2013, at New Milford Hospital after a brief illness. His family was at his side.

Mr. Wey was born July 15, 1940, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and raised in Baldwin, N.Y. He attended the Baldwin schools and Pratt Institute.

He spent his career as an architect designing residential and commercial properties throughout the tri-state area.

Mr. Wey enjoyed life. He was an avid pool player, and appreciated a fast car with a big block engine. A longtime member of the NHRA, he took his love of cars to racetracks along the East Coast.

As an accomplished woodworker, he created furniture and accessories that are treasured by family and friends.

Mr. Wey is survived by his wife, Janet, of 46 years; a daughter, Kathryn Calsetta, and her husband, Jeff, of Sherman; and two grandsons, Jacob and Addison, of Sherman.

A memorial celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Memorials may be made to a Sherman charity of one's choice.
