The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in New Milford will take place June 16 to 17.

The walk-a-thon will take place at Sarah Noble Intermediate School on Sunny Valley Road, and kick off with opening ceremonies June 16 at 6 p.m.

Related happenings include:

A Relay cupcake challenge with two categories --amateur and professional. Contestants must submit a minimum of a dozen cupcakes for judging.

Cupcakes should be decorated to reflect this year's Relay theme -- "TV Land" -- or the overall Relay theme of "Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back."

Entries must include contact information and should be brought to the school's cafeteria entrance June 16 by 3 p.m.

Among the other activities on the tentative schedule are a survivor dinner, the cupcake challenge and a demonstration by the New Milford VFW Color Guard at 4 p.m.; a belly-dancing demonstration with Rakshanda Rya at 5 p.m.; opening ceremonies, featuring the color guard, the singing of the national anthem by Curtis T and survivor and caregiver laps at 6 p.m.; acoustic rock music by the Traveling Danburys at 7 p.m.; Zumba with Amity LaFantano of Phys-Ed Health and Performance at 8 p.m.; a luminaria ceremony, laps and a slide show at 9 p.m.; music by singer/songwriter Kristen Erritt at 10 p.m.; and karaoke with Mama Tess at 11 p.m.
