Minor Memorial Library in Roxbury will open a color photography exhibit, “Reflective Abstraction,” with a reception Sept. 16 from 2 to 4 p.m.

The exhibit, which will run through Oct. 28, will feature works by Paul Doherty.

After a 30-year career in theatre, television and film, Doherty moved to Martha’s Vineyard and rekindled his passion for creating abstract art through photography.

Doherty’s pictures capture the reflections of sailboats and other vessels at Vineyard Haven as those reflections join with the wind and the waves to produce uniquely beautiful images in the water.

Doherty’s work has been shown at various venues on the Vineyard and elsewhere in the Northeast.

The show may be seen at the South Street gallery Mondays from noon to 7 p.m., Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursdays from noon to 5 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
