The New Milford recycling center provides containers for mattress disposal free of charge if the mattress can be recycled at the center, on Young’s Field Road.

Mattress recycling is regulated by the state.

Used tires are also being accepted with a fee based on the tire size.

A pilot program is in place with the Salvation Army with a container onsite at the center for gently used clothes.

Hazardous waste days are offered annually. During the rest of the year, up to eight gallons of paint is accepted by H.H. Taylor & Son, Ring’s End or Sherwin Williams for recycling.

The recycling center is available only to New Milford, Sherman and Brookfield residents.

The fee to use the center is $20 per year for residents, free for seniors 65 or older, and $40 for small businesses.

The center does not accept cash. Checks or punch cards are available at New Milford Public Works, town hall or New Milford Public Library.
