The New Milford Social Services Department has issued a reminder about Hunger Action Month this month.

Throughout the month, advocates bring attention to the problem of local, national and world hunger.

Residents are invited to participate in a SNAP Challenge.

The challenge consists of living on what a household can buy with the average Connecticut allotment of SNAP (formerly Food Stamps) benefits, which is roughly $4.50 per day.

For more information, visit the Food Research and Action Center's website at: http://frac.org/initiatives/snapfood-stamp-challenges.
