To the Editor:

The New Milford Public Library's adult winter reading program was a resounding success this year.

We are happy to report that in only two months, 352 patrons read 812 books.

Three individuals were lucky enough to win the raffle prizes provided through the generosity of our wonderful FRIENDS organization and Molly Sprong of Executive Cuisine.

All 352 participants came away with a card holder that the FRIENDS were also kind enough to supply.

Patrons took much pleasure perusing the reviews that were written about every book, were competitive with each other over how many titles they read, and very much enjoyed the book discussions led by Patricia D'Ascoli.

While the main purpose of this program is to have fun, it also serves to show our children that their parents and grandparents read for pleasure as well as for information. It also reintroduces books to some people who would otherwise be glued to the TV or video games.

Many thanks to the FRIENDS, to Executive Cuisine, and to the NMPL staff for all their hard work to make this program happen. We are fortunate to live in a community that supports programs like this one. Thank you all.
