TheatreWorks New Milford will present a free staged reading of the play, “Rosebud: The Lives of Orson Welles” by Mark Jenkins, Wednesday at 8 p.m.

The play, narrated by Welles himself, takes the audience through his childhood; his life as actor, director, and producer; and his involvement with a host of celebrities, including William Randolph Hearst, Rita Hayworth, Nelson Rockefeller, and J. Edgar Hoover.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Welles’ birth and the 30th anniversary of his passing.

Actor Kevin Sosbe of New Milford will portray the role of Welles.
