The Washington Montessori School in New Preston will kick off its 10th annual Puppetry Festival Feb. 6.

The series, sponsored by Copes Waste Solutions, will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the 240 Litchfield Turnpike school.

Offerings will include “The Wizard of Oz” by the Puppet People of New York Feb. 6, “Rachel Skullcap, The Pirate” by Rosalita’s Puppets of Massachusetts Feb. 13 and “Sir George and the Dragon” by John McDonough of Pumpernickel Puppets Feb. 20.

“The puppetry festival is a treasured event here at WMS,” said Jill Skilton, director of communications at Washington Montessori School.

“It’s a great way to spend a cold, winter morning with your children,” she said.

Each show is about an hour long and includes meeting the puppets.

Children and their parents are welcome to burn off energy in the gymnasium after each show.

Tickets are $8 for people 2 and older and free for children under 2.
