The Eric Sloane Museum in Kent will celebrate the annual Connecticut Open House Day with free admission June 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Simsbury Historical Society members Joe Buda and Chris Rice will display a unique twist on one of Eric Sloane’s many passions, lightning rods and weathervanes.

“Lightning Chess” will be played using 32 full-size chess pieces made from lightning rods at 11 a.m. A rain date for “Lightning Chess” is June 14.

The museum is located at 31 Kent-Cornwall Road (Route 7), just north of the village center.
