Preserve to hold Open Farm Day

Sunny Valley Preserve in New Milford will host its 20th annual Open Farm Day Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The free event at 8 Sunny Valley Lane will take place rain or shine. However, in case of inclement weather, patrons are encouraged to call 860-355-3716 to hear a recorded message on the status of the event.

In addition to hayrides and animal exhibits, festivities will include displays of antique and modern tractors and farm equipment, animal petting, wool spinning, maple syrup-making, blacksmithing demonstrations, craft demonstrations, informational displays and hiking.

Food will be available for purchase.

Sunny Valley, which is a project of the Nature Conservancy, features Sunny Valley main

farm and three affiliate farms on a total of

1,850 acres combined

in New Milford and Bridgewater, about 600 of which are in agricultural use.
