To the Editor:
The New Milford Parks & Recreation Department hosted Trunk or Treat on the New Milford Village Green on Halloween night, Oct. 31.
More than 1,000 children came to town and had fun trick or treating, thanks to Arthur Howland & Associates.
Its generous donation enabled us to purchase tons of candy and decorate the Green in a spooky manner.
An extra special thank you to Christine Oberc for the planning and execution of the Thriller Flash Mob and to Village Center for the Arts for the spooky zombie makeup.
Thank you to all the volunteer "Trunks" who donated hundreds of dollars of candy on their own, to all the volunteer safety marshals, to CERT for keeping everyone safe, to the teenagers who spent hours running back and forth with candy and to the First Congregational Church, whose members collected canned goods for the food bank.
We could not have done this without the cooperation of the New Milford Police Department.
Thanks to Mayor Pat Murphy and Town Council for once again allowing zombies, goblins and ghouls to take over the Green for this extra special community event.
