To the Editor:

I was very happy and encouraged about the Spectrum article concerning the potential return of passenger trains to and through New Milford.

Bill Johnson, longtime civic leader in New Milford, myself and many other members of the Rail Service Restoration Society have been working to push this idea for decades.

There appears to be growing support for increased public transportation from Gov. Dannel Malloy, and echoed by our local politicians.

Even the past governor of Massachusetts was on board to extend rail service north of our border.

The money is there; the allocation first needs to be directed here.

I can only hope now, finally, something positive is on the horizon and others will come forward to support rail service for passengers in our area.
