The 2010 Plan of Conservation and Development was unanimously approved Tuesday by the New Milford Planning Commission.

"We made a few modifications from the suggestions given at last week's public hearing," said commission member Theresa Volinski. "It's going to print and will go into effect on August 6."

Changes included adding "Planned Residential" to the future land use map on page 60 of the POCD, and including an "Airport District" zone for the airport on Candlewood Mountain, as well as noting the airport as a potential future site for economic development.

Mayor Pat Murphy praised the document and the POCD Committee's work.

"I think it's a document more people will read because it is so well presented," she said. "I believe it is a document everyone will respond well to."
