The Sherman Chamber Ensemble will hold a free community picnic and concert June 29.

It will also feature the first volunteer fair organized by the newly formed Sherman Steps Up! committee made up of representatives of town commissions and community organizations that rely on volunteers to provide vital services in the town.

Rain date is June 30.

Residents are invited to bring blankets and/or chairs to the town green from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hot dogs and ice cream sundaes will be provided.

Sherman Steps Up! aims to raise awareness of the importance of these volunteers and the needs they fill and to promote and facilitate expanded volunteer participation.

V0lunteer fair groups include the Commission on Aging, the Conservation Commission, FISH, the Jewish Community Center, the Naromi Land Trust, the Sherman Chamber Ensemble, the Sherman Historical Society & The Old Store, the Sherman Senior Center, the Friends of the Senior enter, the Sherman Library Association and others.
