The New Milford Youth Agency will kick off the first in a series of monthly Saturday morning parent education workshops on Jan. 12 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

The first workshop, "Challenging Kids: An Opportunity for Family Growth," will be at the Maxx on Railroad Street.

It will focus on both typical and more serious challenging behaviors.

Parents will learn how to "decode" child and teen behavior; effective interventions; how to get help when you need it and how to find solutions that are not just a quick fix, but an opportunity for closer, stronger family connections.

The presenter will be licensed marriage and family therapist Charlie Manos, director of special services for the Brookfield public schools, and a state-certified school psychologist.

Free child care and a light breakfast will be offered.

Pre-registration is required by calling 860-354-0047 or emailing laura@youthagency.org.
