Minor Memorial Library on South Street in Roxbury will welcome Teresa Roxburgh, its new director, with an open house Friday at 5 p.m.

Roxburgh grew up in Pasadena, Calif., and received a bachelor's degree in history from the University of California, Irvine.

She holds a master's degree in library and information science from San Jose State University.

Originally planning to be an archivist, Roxburgh worked at the Writer's Guild Foundation Library and Archive and later served as teen librarian with the County of Los Angeles Public Library.

Soon afterward, she became a library manager for a medium-sized branch library.
