To the Editor:
The New Milford fire marshal's office, Water Witch Hose Co. No. 2, Northville Volunteer Fire Department and Gaylordsville Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank the community for its support of our fourth annual Fire Prevention Day, held Oct. 2 t the New Milford Home Depot.
We had approximately 500 people attend the event.
It was impressive to see the number of people gathering for the different demonstrations, especially the burn buildings.
The following businesses and organizations donated or lent products and/or were on hand to assist with Fire Prevention Day:
Home Depot for hosting the event, donating food and material for the burn buildings, and for holding the kids' workshop;
Stop & Shop and Big Y for donating food;
Brownie's Towing for delivering and picking up the vehicle for the extrication scenario;
LaJoie's Auto Wrecking for donating the vehicle used for the extrication scenario;
Kicks 101.5 radio for DJing and promoting the event;
Fire Control Service Co. Inc. for the loan of its fire alarm board;
Brookfield Fire Department for loaning its Sparky Dalmatian costume;
Candlewood Lake Authority for bringing its jet skis and literature.
New Milford Ambulance for providing tours of the ambulance;
Water Witch Hose Co. No. 2 and Northville and Gaylordsville fire departments;
George Russell for helping build the burn buildings;
Taylor and Devin Alward for helping with Sparky, and with Spanner the Dalmatian;
State Police for providing the Convincer DUI simulator;
Connecticut Fire Academy for loaning the stove fire extinguishment training simulator;
and the New Milford fire marshal's office for coordinating the day, and providing handouts and literature.
Thanks are also due to the schools and all of the businesses that allowed us to hang flyers promoting the event.
We also thank The Spectrum and the Pennysaver for promoting Fire Prevention Day.
We appreciate the continued dedication, support and commitment of these businesses, organizations and volunteers to New Milford's safety.
Without everyone's help and collaboration, we would be unable to provide this educational event to the New Milford community.
