The John J. McCarthy Observatory in New Milford will hold its next "Second Saturday Stars" program Sept. 13.

The program, "GRAIL: Unraveling the Mystery of the Moon's Formative Years," will run from 8 to 10 p.m. at the observatory behind New Milford High School on Route 7 South.

The program will explore the moon's formative years and the latest theories on how our celestial companion evolved over a relatively short time to what we see today.
