The New Milford Food Bank is seeking donations of food and monetary gifts that will yield extra hunger-fighting funds through the Alan Feinstein Foundation Challenge.

Every year, Feinstein gives away $1 million to agencies that fight hunger across the U.S.

The more donations raised, the larger the gift from the foundation.

The local pantry helps more than 165 households weekly.

All donations made during this month and next month may be counted toward the food bank's total.

Donations may be dropped off at New Milford Social Services on the second floor of the Richmond Citizen Center at 40 Main St. Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Checks can also be mailed to the same address.

Groups interested in conducting a food drive may contact Social Services at 860-355-6079.
